Port of Brisbane, Pinkenba Wharf Fire Monitor Tower
Point Zero Engineering was engaged by CV Services to design and certify a new Fire Monitor Tower as part of a major fire system upgrade at the Port of Brisbane. The project required a robust, low-maintenance structure compliant with AS 1657 and AS 4100, while withstanding the significant operational loads of the fire monitor and platform.
To ensure safe, efficient upkeep, we incorporated a dedicated maintenance access system designed for simplicity and user safety. A single-pole structure was selected to minimise the tower’s footprint and reduce its impact on traffic flow around the installation site.
Working within the constraints of an existing wharf, our design addressed saltwater corrosion risks and involved close collaboration with civil structural engineers to ensure wharf load limits were not exceeded. The result is a purpose-built tower that demonstrates our capability in delivering custom structural solutions for challenging environments.
